Ace Attorney's forgotten game shows strange place of fan localisations (eurogamer.net)

I played through the entire Ace Attorney series in the last couple of years. AAI2 really is a terrific game, and the fan translation is flawless. The game has this incredibly detailed story that sort of weaves back on itself multiple times over - it's really gripping. It also has an absolutely terrific soundtrack.

Highly recommended to fans of logic puzzle type games.

I played every AA game as well, with the exception of finishing AAI2. The second case was such a slog with an unsatisfying payoff, but I'll have to try it again some time. I loved AAI1.

I know what you mean, but it really does pick up later, and all the threads laid in that case end up getting tied together later. The payoff is great at the end :)

At the time of the debate I actually played through this fan made Ace Attorney game http://aaonline.fr/search.php?search&criteria[title-contains....

Someone took the arguments from the debian technical committee mailing list and made it into text based game dialog. Might rip up some old wounds now though.

What actually happened to Devuan, the fork that was created because of the decision to use systemd in Jessie?

Thank you for this! I just wish it had an offline version so I could play it during the 9 hour flight I'm about to board.

EDIT: what’s with the downvotes? I’m confused.

I still love that people put in the effort to translate AAI2. Initially it didn't even seem like it was going to happen because the game was designed to only display 2 lines of text at a time. English characters are less information dense than Japanese ones, so it was important that 3 lines be displayed at once.

I love Ace Attorney games so much. They are a perfect example of how clever writing and interesting character development carries a game. A really refreshing break from all the titles and studios focused on better graphics these days.

I just played through the original trilogy a few months ago. They’re really excellent games.

The article never explained why “Investigations 2” wasn’t localised to English

As far as I know, it's because the first game, Ace Attorney Investigations, sold very poorly.

I enjoyed both it and the fan translation of the sequel a fair bit, but I can't say I'm astonished they made that choice if it sold poorly.

I was just trying to play Ace Attorney on an emulator under Ubuntu 22.04. emulator locks up, appears to be a wayland issue. Anyone know one that will work?

'an emulator' isn't very specific, but have you tried DeSmuME? I think it's pretty much the most polished DS emulator out there at the moment.

Note that the desmume version packaged by debian and ubuntu is pretty ancient (2015).
