The most practical way to give these ideas an opportunity to grow (IMO), is to start with code. Rather than code being stored as text, we store it as "objects" (as described in the article). To the extent which you are already using high quality tooling we already get many of these benefits, with the unfortunate addition of tons of parsing code duplicated between your compiler/interpreter, ide, text editor (syntax highlighting), and other tools (refactoring, etc.), as well even more duplicate code covering the mechanics of the internal model of the language(s) you are using (linters, intellisense, etc.).
