Fun for about 5 minutes but screeches to a halt when ships start to teleport. Only takes a few minutes to be able to get to wave 12 and then there's no progress after that.
Yeah, the teleporting was an exceedingly annoying and un-fun mechanic. In games, players don't like when something happens without warning and are unable to react to it. This is why we have telegraphing. Dev, if you want to keep the mechanic, give it a charge up time and an indicator of the impending direction of a warp. Otherwise, funny idea for a game.
I agree that the idea that some number of teleporting ships scales past the ability to bring enough chaotic asteroids to bear on them seems like a design problem. For me, that was six ships on wave 14. The field is rapidly emptied of threats.
This perspective that consciousness cannot be programmed can only make sense if you're a dualist. We don't know how consciousness arises. If you're a naturalist it can't be ruled out based on the simplicity of the algorithm.
In case you want to enjoy it anyway, I've got a recommendation: there are quite a few mods for the game, including one which quadruples the time limit, essentially making the time between major events 4 times as long.
In that configuration, the mechanic is still there but you aren't feeling on a clock anymore and can explore and play around with stuff at your own pace.
As someone hating any kind of timed missions in games, that's what made a frustrating game into a masterpiece for me personally.
The Glove80 looks close to what I want, but that thumb cluster looks basically as bad as the Ergodox one. Too many keys overall, especially pinky ones.
You don't really have to use them all. Realistically on each side I use ~3-4 of the thumb keys consistently and I have the others bound to just things I rarely do.
I also completely unbound the outermost row of keys on both sides. i.e. far left and far right. Since I found one of the biggest issues I had that aggravated my issues were stretching the pinky.
I also have a Kinesis Advantage 360 pro but I think its better suited for people with bigger hands than me. I do prefer its tenting setup though since its much quicker/easier to use. The Glove80's is a bit more custom but I think I'd have preferred if there was like a good mix of the two.
I have both of these keyboards (as well as the Moonlander, Voyager and Go60).
The thumb cluster on the Glove is significantly more comfortable for me than the Ergodox / Moonlander. I never found either of the latter boards particularly comfortable. That said, I only really use the three innermost thumbs on the Glove.
The Go for me has a reasonable thumb cluster but the middle “resting” key is slightly further than what I was used to. It took a few days to adjust.
If you want something really comfortable try a Svalboard, but it requires more training.
> Do not give yourself diabetes by eating vast amounts of sugar. If you are doing this, stop. Not having diabetes decreases CVD risk.
Not eating vast quantities of sugar is good advice, but it's not the direct cause of T2 diabetes. The best evidence suggests that T2 diabetes is caused by the accumulation of fat in the liver and pancreas. See the twin cycle hypothesis. To prevent diabetes, one needs to maintain a weight low enough where the body isn't storing fat in the liver and pancreas (everyone has their own individual threshold for this). If you're pre-diabetic, lose enough weight and most people will regain insulin sensitivity.
I think there are a bunch of states the human body can be in where pathways cause sugar to be converted into fat directly in the liver (via hepatic de novo lipogenesis). This is not dependent on fatty acid transport to the liver.
